As Delta marks 100 years of connecting people and places worldwide, 25 years of continuous service to Argentina underscore the airline’s commitment to Latin America and its role in bringing travelers closer to unforgettable experiences in the Southern Hemisphere.

Delta Air Lines operates daily nonstop service from Atlanta (ATL) to Buenos Aires (EZE), offering customers convenient access to Argentina’s vibrant capital, Buenos Aires. From there, travelers can easily connect via domestic airlines to some of the country’s most awe-inspiring southern destinations, including Bariloche, El Calafate, and Ushuaia—opening the door to the heart of Patagonia’s winter wonderland. In the Southern Hemisphere, winter spans from June through August — making it the perfect time for a cool-weather escape during the U.S. summer.

Why fly to Argentina in the Southern Hemisphere’s winter?

With its extensive global network and focus on delivering premium service, Delta makes planning a winter escape to Argentina effortless. Whether drawn by adventure, breathtaking scenery, or the spirit of exploration, travelers can count on Delta’s comfort, reliability, and excellence at every step of the journey. Here are some reasons why Argentina winter’s wonders should be on every traveler’s bucket list:

  1. Bariloche: A winter icon surrounded by lakes and mountains
Nestled in the Andes in northern Patagonia, San Carlos de Bariloche is a premier winter destination. Known for its alpine scenery and charming atmosphere, Bariloche features Cerro Catedral, the largest ski resort in South America, with over 1,200 hectares of skiable terrain. Snowmobiling, sledding, and snowshoeing are also among the many seasonal activities available.

Visitors often stop at Cerro Otto, home to a 360-degree rotating café with panoramic views of the Andes. Bariloche is also recognized as Argentina’s National Capital of Chocolate, home to more than 20 chocolate shops and a dedicated Chocolate Museum.

  2. El Calafate: Glacier encounters in Santa Cruz
In the southern province of Santa Cruz, El Calafate serves as a base for visiting the iconic Perito Moreno Glacier. Winter brings a quieter, more serene setting, with frozen rivers and calm winds enhancing the glacier’s dramatic presence. Whether seen from elevated walkways or by boat, Perito Moreno offers an unforgettable visual experience in colder months.

  3. Ushuaia: the world’s southernmost city
In Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia offers a rare blend of natural beauty and adventure. Cerro Castor, the southernmost alpine ski resort in the world, provides exceptional snow conditions and a variety of slopes for all skill levels. In town, travelers can sail the Beagle Channel to observe sea lions and cormorants, hike snow-covered forests in Tierra del Fuego National Park, or board the historic End of the World Train, which traces the journey of former prisoners through stunning winter landscapes.
